Work Uniform Case Study: Steel Fabricator

Work Uniform Case Study: Steel Fabricator

In 2016, our president Jim Buik met the owner of a steel fabricator at a Family Business Council event and discussed the merits of using a work uniform rental service instead of employees wearing and being responsible for the cleanliness of their own work garments. The steel fabricator wanted their workforce to have a more uniform look.

We started providing work uniform rentals to their employees shortly thereafter, which was the first time they’d ever used a work uniform service. This version of our rental service is a company/employee shared program, where the company picks up a portion of uniform program costs and so do the employees. Read on to learn more about their experience with Roscoe.

About the Steel Fabricator

Our steel fabricator client has been in business for over 70 years in a south Chicago suburb. They work with carbon, steel, alloys, stainless steel, aluminum, and every variation therein. They are a preferred choice by electric companies, steel mills and power plants because they can handle fabrications or weldments up to 40,000 lbs. When it was time to standardize on a work uniform rental program, they hired Roscoe.

Yellow Bag Program

One aspect of our work uniform service that this steel fabricator really likes is our Yellow Bag Program that we use to handle repairs. Employees wearing uniforms place garments that need attention in a yellow bag and ties the bag in a knot. We ask them to write what needs addressed on the bag but, even if they don’t, we give the garment a thorough inspection. “The turnaround time was awesome,” said one uniform wearer.

Spanish, Lockers & Uniform Customization

Another thing the steel fabricator really likes about our offerings is that all of our communication pieces are bilingual, in Spanish and English, which is very important to them since 60% of their staff is Hispanic. They also like that we supply secure lockers for each individual wearer. Lastly, we presenting multiple company emblem concepts to the company until landing on the one they feel best represents the image they want to convey when worn on a uniform with employee’s name emblem.

Overall Service

Overall, “service has been great,” according to our account contact. He added “Our wearers love the uniforms and Rico [the route service rep] has been doing a great job.”
