Teamwork is vital for an operation to run smoothly and efficiently. Steve Jobs had a very interesting metaphor for teamwork. When he was younger he befriended an elderly neighbor who invited him to his garage one day to show him an old rock tumbler. The neighbor got some regular old ugly rocks and put them in the can with a little bit of liquid and grit powder, closed the can and told him to come back the next day. The can made quite the racket as the stones went around. When Jobs came back the next day the man opened the can and took out these amazingly beautiful polished rocks. Jobs goes on to say that, “through the team, through that group of incredibly talented people bumping up against each other, having arguments, having fights sometimes, making some noise, and working together they polish each other and they polish the ideas, and what comes out are these beautiful stones.”
His view on high performing teams may differ from the status quo where conflict can be viewed as negative, but if team members fight for what they believe, great ideas can be born. The Chicago uniform company is lucky to have such a talented, diverse group of people not afraid to cause some friction once in a while to provide customers with a quality product and superior performance.
When a laundry service team member goes above and beyond with customers we like to give them a shoutout and recognize them for their effort. The new year has been quite busy where Roscoe has been able to provide a laundering and supply service to many new customers. Some of our new customers were in pinch where they were opening up shop and had no supplier to provide them with work uniforms, mats, aprons, linens, towels and other merchandise.
While we do our best at the mat company to provide the quickest turnaround for new account installs it generally takes 3-5 weeks after a contract is signed. In the latest feats of heroism team members were able to provide merchandise to customers in 48 hours.
The uniform rental company Sales and Admin team prepared all the necessary paperwork, working through the weekend, so the Production team could process any merchandise and prep for delivery. Then the Service team made special trips out to the accounts to deliver the products.
Therefore, a huge shoutout to Craig Havlat, Miriam Avila, Barbara Bailey-Polk, Sergio Pena, Michael Ireland, Leroy Johnson, Cindi Repass, Keith Williams, Graham Johnson and Lenin Gonzalez for taking special care of our customers at El Tacanazo, Motor Werks of Barrington and Fireside Ale House, ensuring that their operations could run smoothly with the necessary products needed. With a whole lot of back and forth communication and picking up additional responsibilities you all were able to make these customer very happy. Thank you for being a dedicated, hard-working, talented group of individuals who push each other to perform so well as a team.
Thank you to our new customers at El Tacanazo, Motor Werks of Barrington and Fireside Ale House for choosing the Chicago uniform company as your supplier of uniforms, mats, apron, and towels. We look forward to a continuing partnership!
