At Roscoe, we’ve worked hard to earn our reputation for providing high quality work uniform rentals and unmatched customer service.
But behind the scenes, we work just as hard to be a good neighbor to our community, a responsible steward of the environment and a leader to the industry.
There’s more to running a business than the bottom line. Especially when the business is one your family founded three generations back. We are building something we can be proud to leave to the next generation, and a place where our employees will be proud to work, now – and a decade from now. We want to be an asset to our community – the community where we go to work, where our customers reside and the same community that our team members call home.
We know that’s not something that can be accomplished just by talking about it, so here’s what we’ve been up to recently.
Roscoe Corporate Social Responsibility
We’ve incorporated our goals into long-term planning with leadership, accountability and investment that holds us to our course. Below are some examples.
Employee Development
We are building a pool of future leaders with management training, cross training and skills certification programs.
Industry Leadership
Our support and leadership of the Textile Rental Services Association helps develop and sustain best practices and the highest levels of customer service within the industry of uniform and linen suppliers. Next year, Roscoe President Jim Buik will serve his second term as the industry association’s president.
Environmental Stewardship
In 1975, we introduced the first wastewater treatment system in the industry. We continue to serve as a leader in the laundry industry, with wastewater treatment, energy conservation, waste reduction and recycling programs. We are TRSA “Clean Green” certified and have twice received the TRSA Clean Green Sustainability Award recognizing novel approaches by companies and/or facilities to increase sustainability, conserve natural resources and reduce the operation’s overall environmental impact. We are also a two-time winner of the Illinois Sustainability Award, which recognizes private and public Illinois organizations who have implemented outstanding and innovative sustainable techniques or technologies, demonstrating a commitment to sustaining our environmental, social and economic health
Community Leadership
The Roscoe Company has been an active member of the Lawndale Business Renaissance Association (LBRA) since it was founded. Buik was a driving force behind the creation of the organization, which has created more than $8 million in economic impact to the neighborhood since 2014. We are also proud of our support of local community programs which provide underprivileged area children with winter wear.
Accountability
Roscoe’s commitment to efficient and environmentally sound processes goes beyond promises – we implement HACCP compliant practices and have achieved ISO 9001:2015 certification, Clean Green certification and are in the process of earning Hygienically Clean certification as well as recertifying under OSHA Safety & Health Achievement Recognition (SHARP).
Investment
We recently capped a 10-year-capital improvement plan with the installation of a state-of-the-art automated sorting system that is as sophisticated and accurate as any you could find in the industry – worldwide. This gives us the capacity to sort and track up to 3,000 garments an hour with 100% accuracy, raising our level of customer service and setting the stage for our continued growth.
