With the recent changes in Congress and the Illinois State House and the call for proposed policy changes it’s important to feel represented in local, state and national government. That’s true for independently owned, local businesses like the Chicago uniform company and the community it serves.
Therefore, we are active in associations like the Midwest Textile Services Association (MTSA) that have been influential in shaping legislation that affects member operations, employees and environmental issues.
MTSA was founded in 1889 with the purpose of not only representation in local and state legislation for commercial laundries and their suppliers, but also as a forum for industrial launderers and a community for networking. Over 100 years later and a well-established group of 50 Chicago-based launderers, vendors and suppliers, its mission remains the same: “helping MTSA members improve their business.”
The Chicago mat company is proud to be a part of it as owner, Jim Buik, was named President of MTSA. If you feel your organization could benefit by becoming a member contact 888-672-6872 or visit www.mtsa.net. One of the member benefits is participating in annual events where members and vendors share ideas on best practices, new products and services, regulatory issues and just have a great time.
The most recent event was a Blackhawks Game that many of the uniform services leadership team attended. It was a great event held in the Bud Light Legends Lounge with a special appearance by the legendary Jim Cornelison. It didn’t hurt that the Hawks crushed it yet again.
Jim Cornelison, who sings the national anthem with his customary fervor, is part of the leadership team of a nonprofit organization called the Illinois Patriot Education Fund (IPEF). IPEF’s mission is to “provide financial assistance to support the educational journey for Illinois military service men and women.” Furthermore, they also support the educational needs of their spouses and children.
The Chicago Uniform Company supports organizations that are active in the local community and passionate about furthering education. If you would also like to donate and feel it’s an important cause visit
