Roscoe takes first place in the annual TRSA video contest for our virtual tour of our state-of-the-art facility.
Dubbed the ‘Oscars’ of the industry, TRSA’s annual video contest is a lighthearted effort to highlight the important role videos can play in educating customers and prospects. And of course, the pandemic has only heightened the need for such communication. When we undertook our video project in 2019, we could not have imagined a year in which a virtual tour of our plant would be the only type of tour we could give.
And while we’re looking forward to hosting live tours on a regular basis, we are really proud of the work our team members did in the creation of this award-winning video introduction to the people and processes at Roscoe.
The contest included 16 entries chosen by contest judges and voted upon by TRSA members.
A Team Effort for Success
In true Roscoe spirit, our tour video was the result of hard work and collaboration. President Jim Buik, along with Director of Sales and Service Mark Stedman, Corporate Apparel Team Leader Julia Buik, Marketing Coordinator Wayne Wasion and other Roscoe team members, worked with Melissa Costello, an outsourced marketing and video specialist, to design, script, and direct the winning video.
Our motivation was pretty straightforward: Over 90% of the prospects who tour Roscoe’s facilities in person become customers, so we knew we needed to create a version that could be experienced by anyone with a few minutes to spare, an internet connection and an interest in seeing the technology, innovation, and processes that set Roscoe apart. Over the course of a 12-hour day with two film crews, a drone, and a collection of team members, we worked to capture the culture and pride behind the processes.
About 100 hours of editing later, the video was complete.
A Virtual Tool in a Time of Social Distance
Within a year of the video launch, Roscoe’s sales were doubling. Today, while we could never have anticipated the crippling effects of the pandemic, the value of such a tool cannot be overstated.
“Especially during the pandemic, this video has been priceless in selling our services and value to other businesses with restricted face-to-face meetings,” said Roscoe President Jim Buik. The video has also been a great recruiting and training tool, he said.
We’re incredibly grateful to all of you who have taken the time to watch it. And if you haven’t yet been properly introduced to Roscoe, we invite you to take a look. Thanks to an amazing feat of German engineering, the journey and tracking of thousands of garments and floor mats through our automated industrial laundry facility is a lot more interesting than you may realize.
While we are looking forward to a year in which we can look you in the eye, shake your hand and unconditionally invite you in to see some of this stuff up close, we hope you enjoy our video introduction.
