We are pleased to have been notified by the Illinois Sustainable Technology Center that we have been named a semi-finalist for the 2016 Illinois Governor’s Sustainability Award.
We are even prouder of the six sustainability accomplishments covered in our award submission, and the four new sustainability efforts on the way to make the rental and laundering of work uniforms, custom mats, bathroom towels, mops, and shop towels even more environmentally friendly.
Award Selection Process & Next Steps
We now must pass an environmental compliance check by Illinois EPA to confirm that no outstanding compliance issues exist. The Roscoe Company has also been submitted to the Office of the Governor for final approval to issue an Award. The Governor’s Office will review other compliance requirements, including business registration and reporting.
Organizations that are selected to be considered Finalists were notified in late September and award recipients will be announced at the 30th Annual Governor’s Sustainability Award Ceremony on November 1st at the Union League Club of Chicago. We look forward to the event.
Recent & Future Sustainability Initiatives
Roscoe won the Governor’s Sustainability Award in 1999 – the first and only other time we have applied for this honorable distinction. No national uniform company has ever won this award in Illinois. Even if we do not win the award this year, we are proud of the six sustainability accomplishments covered in our award submission.
We also have four more initiatives planned, including Nest thermostat implementation, additional water conservation efforts, using solar energy and natural gas. This is part of our continued commitment to environmental sustainability and to being a responsible corporate citizen in Lawndale, Chicago and Illinois.
