This year marks Roscoe’s 99th year in business: an achievement only possible thanks to our team members whose dedication and loyalty have paved the way for Roscoe’s success.
No business anniversary is possible without the support of a great team, but to be approaching a 100th anniversary, you have to have a team that really goes above and beyond. That’s why our 99th anniversary celebration on Aug. 13 doubled as Employee Appreciation Day.
Over a catered lunch and our traditional More cupcakes, Roscoe’s team members joined CEO Jim Buik in reminiscing through the company’s history and reflecting on the events that have shaped our company. In the spirit of social distancing, we split our celebrations into three separate shifts throughout the day, taking care to maintain safety while enjoying the festivities. The anniversary marks the date on the contract for purchase of the “Very Best Laundry” by Roscoe founders J.P. O’Connell and George C. Buik in 1921.
“We all stand on the shoulders of those who came before,” Buik told the team members. “At some point in the past, there were people in every position who came before us, laying the groundwork for Roscoe’s exceptionalism.”
It’s a legacy that is reflected in the bond among Roscoe team members, in the rapport we are lucky enough to share with our clients, and in the continuous improvement goals that drive our efforts day after day.

Throughout the Great Depression, two World Wars, and many other challenges, Roscoe pride has pulled us through.
This year, the COVID-19 pandemic presented one of the most difficult periods in Roscoe’s history, but has also provided us with an important opportunity to step up for our community. As an essential business, our services provide support to food manufacturing, automotive, transportation, and many other essential industries.
Supporting our hardworking customers and looking out for the health and safety of our team members and their families are top priorities for Roscoe during this time and we’re exceptionally proud of the way our team members have risen to the challenge.

Our festivities also included the unveiling of a centennial logo to mark the approaching milestone, which we look forward to celebrating next year, along with our proud Chicago community and customers. We couldn’t have done it without you!
